Type Design – Ek Mukta
Type design is a very specialized branch of design. I was fortunate to be part of a very special project to design a Google font for a font called “Ek Mukta”. The crux of the project was to design and build a huge font family that will be conststent across a wide range of distinctly different Indian scripts. I was responsible for creating the font for the script “Gujarati”. I learnt to read and write the language from scratch and then designed an entire font it.

Mukta Vaani is a contemporary, humanist, mono-linear typeface available in 7 weights. Modest and versatile, it can be used across media, content and point sizes. It has been designed to work harmoniously with other scripts in the Ek multi-script family. It is ideal for use where multi script branding and text settings are required. The fonts contain an extensive set of conjuncts, matras and without vanak forms.
